Notifications
Get a phone or desktop notification when a visitor is waiting, a chat is handed to your team, or something is assigned to you — alongside the email alerts.
Clivly tells you about the things that need a person: a visitor waiting in a chat, a chat the support assistant hands to your team, and a chat or task assigned to you. It always emails you. You can also turn on push notifications, which appear on your lock screen or desktop the way a messaging app's do.
Turn on push notifications
Go to Settings → Notifications and choose Turn on notifications, then allow notifications when your browser asks. Use Send a test to check it works. Do this on each phone or computer you want notified on; the page lists your other devices so you can remove ones you no longer use.
| Device | How |
|---|---|
| Android | Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Samsung Internet — straight from the browser. Installing Clivly to the home screen is optional. |
| iPhone, iPad (iOS 16.4+) | Open clivly.com in Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen, open Clivly from the home screen, then turn notifications on in Settings. Safari tabs can't receive notifications. |
| Mac, Windows, Linux | Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. |
What notifies you
| Event | Who | When |
|---|---|---|
| A visitor writes in a chat | Everyone, or only whoever claimed the chat | About 30 seconds after the message, if nobody has replied — the email follows at about a minute |
| A visitor opens a chat but hasn't written yet | Everyone | About a minute |
| A visitor is still waiting 15 minutes later | Everyone, including the claimer | 15 minutes after the first alert |
| The support assistant hands a chat to your team | Everyone, or the claimer | At the handoff |
| A chat or task is assigned to you | You | About two minutes after, if it is still yours |
A teammate replying first cancels the notification. With Only email the team on handoff on, questions the AI answers don't notify anyone. A newer alert about the same chat replaces the older one instead of stacking up.
Tapping a notification opens that conversation or task in Clivly.
Notifications show the visitor's message, so it's visible on your lock screen.
Turning things off
Push follows the same switches as email, per workspace: turning Conversations or CRM off under Settings → Notifications stops both for that workspace. Other categories (team, digest, integrations) are email only.
To stop notifications on one device, choose Turn off on that device, or Remove it from another device's list. Revoking the permission in your browser or phone settings also works; Clivly forgets the device the next time it tries to reach it.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| No Push notifications section | Push isn't configured on this deployment. |
| "Notifications are blocked" | Allow notifications for clivly.com in the browser's site settings (on iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Clivly). |
| The test arrives but alerts don't | Check the Conversations and CRM switches for this workspace, and whether the chat is claimed by someone else. |
| Nothing on iPhone | Clivly must be opened from the home screen icon, not a Safari tab. |
| Alerts stopped after a while | Turn notifications off and on again on that device; browsers occasionally retire a device's registration. Email alerts are unaffected. |
